J Andrew Forrest Stump

Nicknames stick to people, and the most ridiculous are the most adhesive. ~Thomas C. Haliburton

(1) When J runs inside the house Bill always calls his favorite Forrest Gump: Run Forrest Run!

(2) Last week we taught J our family's middle names: William Lewis, Carol Ann, Amanda Joan, J Aaron, and Jeremy Andrew.

(3) Yesterday when Rachel's sister-in-law asked his name, J replied: J Andrew Forrest Stump

Parker's Pirate Island

Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates. —Mark Twain, Life on the Mississippi

Parker's SIX! Yo ho ho . . . celebrate! Private dining in Smuggler's Cave -- with treasures (and skeletons) hidden in the walls; drip, drip, drip sound effects; and a 24-inch (yes, two-foot) pizza! Lots of Aargh-cade fun and prizes for everyone! And the best mateys around!

A Few More Words

Jeremy now repeats distinct sounds: nose, eye, hand, and please. And when I powered-up the tv yesterday, he raised his hands and exclaimed Spun Bu (yes, Sponge Bob). Not funny.

As I've been worrying about Jeremy's vocal abilities, I remembered one of my favorite stories about a late-talker. It's in the Prologue of A Girl Named Zippy. Pages 6-9. Very amuzing!

And They Call It Puppy Love

Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.

Looks harmless, right? I haven't seen it for a while. Then caught a glimpse of it hidden away on a garage shelf this morning -- must have been there all winter. For Jeremy is was like finding his long-lost wubbie -- and he smothered it with loves and hugs and kisses. Then he remembered the play button. And it started . . . endless robotic puppy dancing to Paul Anka singing Puppy Love. Bill demanded Who found that? and I remembered why we had to wean him from his Puppy Love.

Twenty Years! (almost halfway)

Twenty Years! It seems like I should be closer than half-way to retirement.

Thanks to many wonderful co-workers that make it a pleasure to earn a living!

This certificate is one of a handful signed by the interim CEO. Within a few days, ATK announced Mark DeYoung, my original hiring manager, as the new CEO. -- Just one of the many outstanding mentors who have provided inspiration!
And, as of last week, I now work for a Fortune 500 Company.
